Meet the counsellor

Hi, I am Katelynn!

I hold a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology, and is a registered clinical counsellor (RCC) in good standing with the British Columbia Association of Counsellors (BCACC). I’m also certified as a yoga instructor, Forest School Canada Practitioner, Early Childhood Educator, and have two decades of experience working with children and families.

Katelynn's story

There is a counsellor who spends her days listening to stories and her name is Katelynn Tekavc.

Some stories are heavy, like storm clouds filled with thunder—tales of people carrying the weight of difficult memories and deep hurts. Others are quieter, like a gentle breeze—stories of people simply wanting to feel a little more confident, a little more present, a little more like themselves again.

No matter the story, she welcomes them all.

What keeps her heart full is not just the listening, but the moments of change—the small, brave steps people take as they begin to feel stronger, steadier, and more hopeful. Sometimes they work together in creative ways: through gentle conversations, mindful moments, walks in nature, playful exploration, or even quiet reflection with hands in the sand. Each path is different, but they all lead toward the same place—a sense of healing, and the feeling that it is possible to take the next step forward.

She believes something very important: that each person already carries a quiet strength within them. Her role is simply to help them find it, trust it, and use it—one small step at a time.

Over many years, she also spends time learning about children and how they grow. She understands that children, like gardens, need care in many ways—emotionally, physically, socially, and even spiritually. But sometimes, when life is especially hard, that growth is interrupted, like a young plant facing an unexpected frost.

So when she works with children, she meets them exactly where they are. She uses stories, play, movement, and creativity to help them express what words sometimes cannot. And she knows that children grow best when surrounded by caring adults, so she works closely with families too—helping everyone come together to create a strong, steady foundation where children can thrive again.

And when her day of listening and guiding comes to an end, counsellor Katelynn cares for herself in the same thoughtful way she cares for others. You might find her walking among tall trees in the mountains, tending to a garden, laughing with her family, sitting quietly in mindfulness, helping her community, or getting lost in the pages of a good book.

Because she knows a simple truth: to help others grow, she too takes time to rest, to breathe, and slow down for her roots to plant deeply in the town of Langley.

And so, day by day, story by story, step by step, she continues her work—helping people of all ages remember that healing is possible, and that even the smallest step forward can lead to something beautiful.
