Modes of therapy
Walk and talk therapy takes place in nature while walking and using the natural environment to stimulate one’s internal and external awareness. Research shows counselling while walking improves cognitive and memory functioning and reduces anxiety while enhancing mindfulness.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy is a therapeutic technique that involves eye movements while helping clients reprocess memories to cope with distressing life experiences and heal from trauma.
Nature-based therapy understands the environment is close to our internal psychological state. By connecting ecology to psychology we enhance feelings of belonging, awareness, and self-agency.
Play therapy is used primarily with children by expressing their internal words through playful interactions using therapeutic toys and imagination.
Trauma-informed therapy recognizes and emphasizes the importance of understanding one's traumatic experience and how it impacts their mental, emotional, behavioural, and spiritual well-being.
Sandtray therapy uses a sand tray and small figurines to help individuals express themselves without words, making it an effective tool for coping with trauma and anxiety.
